Our Journey to Becoming a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant

The 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms has been published! We are absolutely thrilled that Gartner has named ThoughtSpot as a Leader.

What makes it extra special is that ThoughtSpot is the only new entrant to the Leaders quadrant since 2013. If you’re keeping track, it only took us 6 short years since our founding to make it here, making us one of the fastest companies to ever make it to the Leaders quadrant. It’s also just 3 years since we were named a Cool Vendor, 2 years since being named a niche player, and a year since being named a Visionary.

2019 Magic quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence platforms.

In this year’s report, Gartner evaluated more than 20 vendors based on completeness of vision and ability to execute across 15 criteria. By definition, leaders in the Magic Quadrant execute well against their current vision while simultaneously positioning themselves for tomorrow. We are extremely proud to be recognized as a Leader, which we view as a testament to our relentless product innovation, impressive growth and execution as a company, and most importantly, the value our customers get from our technology.

Our True North

We launched voice-driven analytics with SearchIQ, letting anyone ask questions using voice and casual, everyday language and get precise answers in an instant. We announced new partnerships with DataRobot to bring data science closer to the business and with Google Cloud Platform to bring multi cloud analytics to every organization. We brought in a new CEO, Sudheesh Nair, who took Nutanix from $0 to over $1B in annual revenue, and we deepened our executive bench with world-class leaders. And we raised $145M in new funding, bringing our total to over $300M.

In addition, what made the year extra special was Beyond 2018 - our very first customer conference. Hundreds of attendees from some of the most innovative organizations in the world, including 70 of the Fortune 500 and companies from the UK, Germany, and Australia convened in Washington, D.C. to learn, collaborate, and celebrate their achievements with their peers.

We’re pleased to have been recognized by Gartner as a leader in this space, but we know we’re no where close to being done. Staying on the leaderboard takes focus, hard work, and dedication. Being named a Leader this year motivates us to continue innovating and executing so we can ascend further to the top next year.
