By now you’ve probably heard the news ThoughtSpot raised a $145M Series D funding round as we take search & AI-driven analytics to every enterprise.
We had a stellar list of firms participate in the round, including both new investors like Sapphire Ventures and returning investors like Lightspeed Ventures, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst.
So what? We’re only 2% done. We’ll always be 2% done. Why? Because it’s a mindset. We’re a very ambitious business, operating in one of the largest markets in tech, building one of the most disruptive products ever imagined in the analytics industry. ThoughtSpot is a company in it for the long haul. We want to truly redefine what’s possible with data. This mindset of never being finished, of always pushing the boundaries, of continually expanding our market, products, and team is critical for achieving the lasting success we’re after.
Three years ago, we launched the first search-driven analytics platform for the enterprise, which required us to build the equivalent of four startups at once in order to deliver a completely new user experience at enterprise scale. At that moment, we were 2% done. Three years later, with 3 of the Fortune 5 as customers, hundreds of employees, and the industry’s leading search-driven analytics solution, we’re still only 2% because we continue to expand our goals, generate new arcs for the business, and dominate more and more of the massive analytics market.
We launched SpotIQ, our AI-driven analytics engine, in August of last year. With this new product, we’ve given enterprises a fundamentally new way for knowledge workers to get insights from data with a single click, even to the questions they care about, but didn’t know to ask. But we’re not done. We continue to improve our platform, bring new features to market, and innovate new products each and every day because we know we’ll always be only 2% done.
Even with new offices in Seattle, Dallas, and Bangalore, and our expansion across EMEA and APAC, we’re still only 2% done bringing our next generation platform to the global market. There’s huge opportunity around the world to both expand our current operations and build out offices in new geographies.
And there’s still massive opportunity for us to grow. Hundreds of global enterprises, including 14 of the Fortune 100 and one of the top 5 companies in every major industry vertical are now ThoughtSpot customers, but there are thousands of businesses still hungry for true self service analytics. We’re only 2% done bringing search & AI-driven analytics to every organization that needs it.
After closing such a big round, I’ve been asked constantly what’s next for ThoughtSpot. And it all comes down to people. The only way we’ll continue to push boundaries and disrupt the market is with a team of diverse people who always see things as 2% done, with nearly infinite room for innovation and opportunity. We’re looking for ambitious leaders who share this mentality, and who want to be a part of something transformational in technology. We’re seeking those remarkable individuals who can bring their unique identities and perspectives to bear on our challenge, particularly those who have been traditionally underrepresented in our industry, and make us better for it.
